FAQ's

How does this procedure work?

The procedure is actually quite simple in practice and theory. It is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts and recent research into the effects of low level laser light on human tissues. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches us that the body's health is effected and regulated by the natural flow of energy, called "Qi" (pronounced "Chee"). This energy or Qi can be altered, congested or stopped by internal or external forces (such as wind, cold, dampness, viruses, bad food, etc.) resulting in reduced “vitality” and an increased susceptibility to disease. Over the millennia, Chinese physicians have discovered that treatment of certain specific points, sometimes called "Acupoints", can have profound and predictable effects on numerous disease conditions. Treatment of these “Acupoints” may be effected in a number of ways, such as pressure, heat, cold, the insertion of fine needles or laser light for example. Recent studies in the West have found that laser light is very effective in stimulating these “Acupoints” and in the promotion of positive tissue changes, like increased collagen production, decreased inflammation (swelling), improved wound repair and more. Low Level Lasers, such as those used in the Laser Lift Program, are being used post-surgically to reduce bleeding and promote the growth of repair tissue in dental and other applications.

How long does it take?

This depends largely on patient age, skin type, general health and due diligence of treatment. While many individuals will experience results quickly, most will see some changes within 3 to 6 weeks. The treatment protocol is based therefore on 6 week increments. We recommend an initial treatment period of 12 to 18 weeks, with additional time as needed for problem areas and unusual skin types. Over time, you will naturally develop a personal treatment regime to support and maintain your desired outcome.

Do I have to keep doing it over and over?

Not in the way that sounds. You will be developing a maintenance program after the initial period. However, as the aging process is relentless, defying it must be likewise. You should know that all facial enhancement and age defying procedures (surgery, botox, etc.) must be reapplied. It’s just the way it is, however, compared with surgical and chemical approaches, laser facial enhancement is by far the easiest, least expensive, least damaging, non-invasive method of achieving and maintaining a more youthful appearance. And you can do it for yourself, by yourself and in the privacy of your own home! What could be better?

How do I know if it’s working?

The mirror doesn’t lie. You will see the results for yourself - often in as little as 3 weeks, however, people and their skin types differ greatly, so naturally results will vary. Since we are working with the body’s energy and constitutional health, the first signs of improvement are subtle and may not seem related to facelifts at all, such as a sense of calmness, increased energy and mental alertness. Interestingly, your friends and family members are often the first to notice. Comments like “You look different, have you done something with your hair?” or “Is that outfit new?” are often the first external signs of treatment progress!

Are there any conditions which would prevent me from using low level lasers in this program?

No, the effects of laser treatment are usually beneficial to the body, however if you are taking medications for skin conditions which require protection from light, contact your dermatologist before using lasers. The lasers we recommend are single band (color red as opposed to the white of normal light) 635nm, 5 mW intensity and have no known contraindications for use. Studies have found laser light enhances tissue growth, wound healing and immune system functioning and are safe to use (however, lasers should never be pointed directly into the eyes).

Are there certain “types” who get results?

Not really. Age, skin type, health history, genetics and the like play a role in progress rate than overall success. For some, the process takes a bit longer. Lifestyle and health conditions such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, high fat or sugar intake and many other lifestyle variables contribute to a longer or more difficult process and should be reduced or eliminated if possible. That just makes good sense! Some chronic conditions such as diabetes will require a longer than ordinary treatment process and should be performed in conjunction with your primary healthcare professional.

We find that patience (or lack of it) causes some individuals to push too hard and others to give up too soon or be inconsistent. Be honest and stay with the program. You will be glad you did. Also, some folks want to be eternally 20 and nothing else will do. Doctors Home Face Lift can’t help that, but there are professionals out there who might be able to!

Can light and laser devices help other conditions?

Actually, yes. Lasers have been used post-surgically to reduce bleeding and enhance would healing, especially in individuals with diabetes. Studies have shown laser therapy to increase the growth of tissue products such as collagen, stimulate repair cells called fibroblasts and enhance immune system functioning to name a few. Conditions such as acne, rosacae, eczema, skin ulcerations and dermatitis have had amazing results with laser therapy. Though Low Level Laser Therapy is not a replacement for sound medical diagnosis and treatment, most any condition which might respond to Traditional Chinese Medicine will respond to laser therapy. Always consult your healthcare provider for treatment of any condition or illness.

Does this mean I can treat all that stuff myself?

Patients undergoing Photo Luminescent face lift therapy have incidentally noted improvement in a host of conditions such as Acne, dry skin, muscle pain, arthritis and even headaches, however Acupuncture treatment is more condition and circumstance specific. In other words, training and diagnosis are required! Consultation with an associated healthcare professional is necessary for proper treatment of any health condition.

What about these Lasers, how do they work?

The Doctors Home Face Lift system recommends you use a high quality Low Level Laser which should have a healing wavelength frequency of 635 nm (nanometers) at an output of less than 5 mw (milliwatts), which has been found by research to have excellent stimulatory effects on the human body. Research has shown that Low Level Laser light penetrates the three top layers of the skin and surrounding tissues stimulating cells to produce collagen (binds tissues and holds moisture for a more youthful look) and a host of other chemicals such as endorphins. Laser stimulation has also been found to enhance wound healing, decrease inflammation (swelling), increase immune system response and increase circulation locally. The Doctors Home Face Lift system uses thousand year old Traditional Chinese Cosmetic Therapy principals and procedures to assist the bodies ability to “find balance” and optimum health. It’s a simple fact that the healthier a body is, the more youthful it will appear.

What’s so special about Low Level Lasers?

In the Doctors Home Face Lift program we have said that many modalities of stimulation can affect the Acupoints recommended. We have found that Photo Luminescence via Low Level Laser Therapy to be safe, effective, inexpensive and easy to use and are showing up nearly everywhere.

Out of concern for the safe use of Low Level Lasers, Doctors Home Face Lift recommends the use of a high quality Laser device for photoluminescence and provides a collimator and sanitary tips for Laser use. This provides a safer, more “focused” beam for easy and specific treatment. Although there have not been any adverse effects of Low Level Laser light reported, all manufacturers of Lasers caution against shining Laser light into the eyes. Though our collimators cannot completely prevent this, they do remove scatter and allow for precise placement of the Laser treatment device to greatly reduce chance of injury.

What is the Face Lift process like?

The Doctors Home Face Lift program is a simple to use procedure that achieves its best results when followed faithfully and consistently. Follow writen instructions. Daily treatments take only 15 or 20 minutes and can be done in bed or while watching TV. The primary means of achieving facial enhancement is via Laser stimulation of specific Acupuncture points and following supportive recommendations. Improvement may be noticed right away, however, it usually takes 3 to 6 weeks to really observe changes in the mirror. Most often friends or family notice “you look different” long before you do. This is a holistic program, meaning "treats the whole person", so it will naturally involve lifestyle enhancement along the lines of positive attitude, good diet, regular exercise and routine basic skin care. It is a simple fact that the healthier the body remains, the more youthful it appears.

How long should I treat each point?

That depends somewhat on the modality. When using acupressure by hand, pencil erasure, pressure device or other method, it is recommended that one “massage” or treat over every Acupoint for at least 20 seconds.

We recommend that you apply Laser type therapy over all required points for a minimum of 20 to 30 seconds or for a "slow count" of ten, such as "one-one thousand, two-one thousand", etc.. You may treat longer if you wish without fear of harm. Just be certain to avoid shining light into the eyes. Maximum treatment time for Photo Luminescent therapy with Low Level Laser shouldn’t require more than a minute or so stimulation per point. The Doctors Home Face Lift program is more than a “spot treatment” and is aimed at the “whole person”.

Can I treat points longer if I wish?

Absolutely. Deep lines and creases will need extra attention, however, it should be understood that treatment time, in and of itself, is not the secret of success. Time, persistence, completeness and patience are what is needed most.

Are there any times when I might want to treat points longer or more often?

Yes, longer treatment times may be indicated for specific areas, such as deep lines and wrinkles, after (and in addition to) the recommended points. Please understand that the Doctors Home Face Lift procedure is a process by which the body's natural energy is "channeled", if you will, to produce the facial enhancement you desire. That means you get to assist the entire body along with the areas you want to improve.

How much longer?

We have found that treatment of deep lines, wrinkles and areas of special need for 30 seconds to a minute per point works well. One recent research paper noted treatment times of from two to three minutes per point with Low Level Laser produced positive responses in repair cells, collagen production and immune system functioning.

You should understand that while excessive treatment has not been found to be harmful, neither has it been found to offer much extra benefit. Which means: “doing it properly is more effective than trying to do it fast”! Your time is valuable, use it wisely!
